理查德斯凯瑞，出生于美国波士顿， 是最负盛名的儿童畅销书作家， 1963年出版成名作《会讲故事的单词书》，12年里卖掉了七百万册。斯凯瑞一生创作了三百余作品，在全世界的销量超过三亿册,创作的“金色童书”系列风靡了整个世界近四十年，陪伴了几代人的成长，是世界童书界当之无愧的无冕之王。
他的书擅长以善良可爱的动物形象来模拟人类的行为，向孩子揭示日常生活的秘密。1976年理查德斯凯瑞荣获美国爱伦坡特别奖。
